With your help the Richard M. Brodsky Foundation will have donated the following by the end of 2014 + raised awareness that AIDS and cancer do not have to be fatal illnesses plus (see items 1 -11 below):
Probably the most fun I had was getting to donate this red car bed to Five Towns Community Center. The car was then donated to a family whose dad donated his kidney to his own son

Thanks Town of Hempstead Supervisor Kate Murray and Nassau County Legislator Carrie Solages for presenting trophies and certificates at the 7th annual 5K AIDS Cancer Run Walk in Baldwin Park. The Richard M. Brodsky Foundation sponsors the only AIDS run or walk on Long Island and there is no charge for people living with HIV or cancer.

Dr. Julian Howard and Sue Murray donated hundreds of pairs of shoes at three orphan dinner dances.

14 doctors from all over the world examined and treated orphans at 3 festive orphan dinner dances in Amilo Village, Kisumu and Masara, Kenya on the 3 days leading up to the World AIDS Marathon

- 1. $26,500 in toys, clothing and gift certificates to the following organizations:
Stony Brook Children's Hospital; St. John's Episcopal Hospital of Far Rockaway; Long Island Breast Cancer Action Coalition; Five Towns Community Center, AIDS Service Programs;  South Nassau Communities Hospital; Five Towns Early Learning Center; the Client Advisory Board (CART) at Center of AIDS Research & Treatment + another two organizations to be determined.

- 2. $3,000 to Cohen Children's Medical Center of New York; Center of AIDS Research & Treatment; CART; Ronald McDonald House; The Long Island Breast Cancer Action Coalition of Hewlett; Five Towns Community Center, AIDS Service Programs and smaller donations to a few other organizations.

- 3. sponsored 3 orphan dinner dances for 850 Kenyan orphans, dined and danced  with the orphans,  provided medicine for the orphans, and organized a team of 14 doctors to exam and treat 255 Kenyan orphans. 85 Kenyan orphan lives were saved mostly from the children having parasites and malaria. Out intent was not to just donate the money and be some nameless, faceless donor, but rather to let the children know, they are not alone, and there are people who care about these children.

- 4. $1,000 in prize money for the World AIDS Marathon which is a relatively small prize package;  the prize money does help the winner's families tremendously +

donating $2,000 in toys and clothing to St. John's Episcopal Hospital of Far Rockaway

dancer of the year goes to Dr. Benson Bonyo of Bonyo's Kenya Mission

While it may not have been cost effective having the orphan dinner dance at Kisumu Impala Sanctuary, the children did get to see the animals in the park. The park was gracious enough not to charge the children but the Foundation was charged $110 to use the park plus all foreign adults had to pay  $25, and that included doctors who were saving the lives of the orphans + all Kenyan volunteers had to pay the standard rate of $4.

Dr. Sartori examining an orphan at Kisumu Impla Sanctuary, the location of one of the orphan dinner dances.

- 5. raised awareness that people living with HIV and cancer can lead successful lives if they have access to doctors and medicine
- 6. sponsored Long Island's only AIDS run or walk, the 5K AIDS Cancer Run Walk, where people living with HIV or cancer are not charged to participate in the Event

- 7. Great Neck North High School sponsored its 3rd annual co-ed faculty basketball game to benefit the Richard M. Brodsky Foundation.
- 8. Retrofestivals sponsored its 3rd annual benefit concert for the Richard M. Brodsky Foundation.
- 9. ran as fast as I could to show people living with HIV and cancer that we can lead healthy, productive lives if we have access to doctors and medicine. I ran my fastest post-brain cancer marathon in Hartford and my fastest World AIDS Marathon.

- 10. hundreds of pairs of shoes were donated by Dr. Julian Howard of Australia in conjunction with the 3 festive orphan dinner dances

- 11. celebrated another year of marriage with my HIV-negative wife and as one book reviewer wrote, Jodi is a profound and inspiring message of hope that embraces the rights of HIV-sufferers everywhere, and the patience and love of one dedicated, unique, and loyal woman. Thank you Jodi for being my soulmate and showing others that people living with HIV are entitled to remain happily married.
