viscose jersey

Depending on the piece that you are sampled, you might think this fabric is a solid. But no, it is a wide stripe that you can view online for the full impact of the color and sizing of the bars. Five heathered colors make up the character of this fabric-plum, charcoal, medium gray, mocha and cocoa. The stripes vary from 1 inch in width to 3.25 inches. The vertical repeat is 23 5/8 inches. This jersey knit is a fabulous choice for a casual tunic or a workday dress. Pull out any of the colors for your accessories and you'll be set for the day to evening look too. This versatile viscose/elastane single knit imported from France is a keeper for three season wear. Extra wide: 64 in
rayon spandex jersey

It never gets old. This black and white striped knit is as classic as classic gets for casual or workday tops and dresses. Mix and match with solid white or black to break up the striping or experiment with railroading the jersey in portions of the garment. Mind the stretch as you plan. Rayon/spandex.

rayon  french terry

Lightweight French terry knit is super comfortable for casual wear. You may have your favorite side - smooth or textured, but you can also mix and match within a garment for textural interest. The four way stretch adds versatility in pattern choice. The snow white color is a perfect contrast to brights or pastels throughout all four seasons. Choose a simple hoodie, a cardi, or a pullover to provide that extra layer of comfort in whatever climate you live or travel. Rayon/spandex.
rayon linen elastane

Looking for a new little black dress? Look no further than this woven rayon blend. This fabric offers drape and body for silhouettes from semi-full to fitted. Perfect for a stylish fit-and-flare dress for the holidays and beyond. Basically speaking, you need this dress in your closet. If separates are your preference, this fabric has the body for slightly structured pants and jacket combos. And just look at this fabulous fiber blend...rayon/linen/Elastane.
cotton satin stretch

This fabric just has to be handled to appreciate the exquisite nature of the cotton. It is a finely woven satin with a bit of stretch in the crossweave. The print is elegant and inviting at the same time. Black seed puffs float over a winter white ground pulling the eye here and there. We see this print with multiple uses in your workday or day to evening wardrobe. Cotton/Lycra.
print viscose elastane jersey

We love the juxtaposition of a contemporary vibe in a classic colorway. This viscose knit was imported from Italy with you in mind. The energy and activity in the print design is its crowning feature. The creamy white ground supports graphic motifs in black overlaid with periodic rounded rectangles in shades of cocoa. We know this will work up well in the top or tunic of your choice or in a wrap dress. Viscose/Elastane.

wool elastane suiting

We get so many requests for gray wool suiting...well here you go! This worsted wool imported from Italy will tailor beautifully in structured suits or separates. Lightweight enough for a tailored dress as well. If this gray is yours, be sure to stock up now. We bought a lot, but this is not an easy find. Wool/Elastane.

wool silk tweed

This is one of our "so Sawyer Brook" buys. A stylish tweed in an update fabric blend of wool and silk is perfect for blazers or slightly structured cardigan jackets. The soft neutrals of deep blue gray and tan mingle with off white for contrast. This will be your go to jacket from fall through early spring. Great choice for a tailoring class this winter, too!

rayon nylon spandex ponte

A separates weight ponte knit is ideal for jackets/pants/skirts and tunics. This rich shade of earthy brown has a slightly warm undertone and is a perfect neutral for cool weather outfits. Mix and match with prints and textures for practical and pretty go-togethers. Rayon/Nylon/Spandex.

print viscose crinkle

"Come into the parlor" We were taken with the deep coloration and the subtly ornate print motifs in this selection. Suggestive of an English drawing room, angles with soft edges gather in a collage that brings visions of molded plaster and hand-woven rugs. Deep blue teal mingles with rusty red and earthy tan highlighted with subtle black. The soft hand of this viscose crinkle imported from Italy adds drape to print. Choose skirts, blouses or dresses to integrate this fabric into your wardrobe plan.

wool viscose mohair alpaca

Savor the blend in this rich tweed as you stroke the surface and handle the texture. Precious fibers enhanced with colorful yarns can only be called exquisite. Putty colored wool/alpaca warp yarns are interwoven with gray brown mohair strengthened with nylon creating a lush surface. Variegated viscose yarns that flow from tangerine to light gold add a tinge of color that peeks through the tweed. This unique fabrication imported from Italy will make up into a spectacular jacket that will last a lifetime. Choose your favorite pattern and relish the process of creating a masterpiece. 52% wool/20% viscose/10% mohair/10% alpaca/8% nylon.

Sew 'n Tell
with Rae Cumbie
Baltimore MD

"Fit for Art" Pattern Co. owners, Rae Cumbie and Carrie Emerson, shopped the warehouse last Friday as part of their weekend visit to New England.

ASDP members and friends of SB staffer, Janee, the pair were in the area to teach two days of classes for the local ASDP NE Chapter. The seminar was "Eureka! Pants that Fit".

Rae brought along a fab sweater she had made from the knit duo Telluride. She utilized both knits in the sweater, one for the sleeves and the other for the body. The pattern is the Tabula Rasa Knit Top from Fit for Art Knit patterns.

"These are 2 items that I made with your fabric.  It's been awhile so I don't remember the names of the fabric!
The dress is V1179 and the top is Silhouette #115, Ann's top. Both very comfortable"

Beverly

The top knit is Chutes in cornflower but, for the first time ever, we can't name the dress knit....can you?
Both are out of stock...sorry

What have you been sewing?
Send me an email with your photos along with a few words about your work and I will post it all here in the newsletter and put up into our customer gallery!
