Pain Management: It's Not Just Because We're Nice People
Veterinarians and technicians both take a professional oath that includes the relief of animal suffering.  We relieve pain in our patients because we want our patients to feel better, but do  we do so solely out of obligation?    Of course not.   Appropriate pain management is, in fact, GOOD MEDICINE.  Painful patients are at a high risk for developing chronic, maladaptive pain as well as suffering in increase in morbidity and mortality.  We have many tools available to help us provide robust, multimodal analgesia, especially in the perioperative period.  Do you know the five primary classes of drugs that we use to provide analgesia before, during, and after procedures that require anesthesia?  How many do you routinely use?  What is your favorite?  Check out our latest blog post and, more importantly, join us on June 20 for an in-depth discussion on why and how we can provide outstanding perioperative pain management to our veterinary patients!
PEAK Veterinary Anesthesia Services is your preeminent source for advanced anesthesia case management, in-hospital anesthesia training, and continuing education on a multitude of anesthesia-related topics.  For more information on what we can offer, click here.
