BY THE NUMBERS

August is heating up as we've mailed 157 checks totaling $29,574 in August bill payments on behalf of 89 breast cancer patients in treatment! As Buster Poindexter would say, "Feeling hot, hot, hot!"

SPEAKING OF HOT, HOT, HOT...

The dance floor is HEATING UP as we get ready for Dancing With The Survivors 2014! The event, held in conjunction with Fred Astaire Dance Studios across the country, will take place at 18 venues on Thursday, October 2. We are grateful for all of the studios and survivors participating in this signature fundraising event to benefit The Pink Fund. In Michigan, we are excited to work with designers from the Detroit Garment Guild Group (DG3) who will design the dancers' costumes. Stay tuned in the weeks ahead for dancers' stories, ticket sales and additional event information.

IF THEY CAN DO IT, YOU CAN TOO!

We're just over two and a half months away from the Detroit Free Press/Talmer Bank Marathon events the weekend of October 18-19. You can STILL join Team Pink Fund! As we get closer to these events, we wanted to share this story from Kelly and Bill, friends of one of our volunteers, Patrice Ladd:

Bill and I will be celebrating our one-year anniversary on October 19. To celebrate this momentous occasion, we have decided to run the International Half-Marathon in Detroit into Canada on October 19, running together and not away from each other. We wanted to pay it forward by raising money for The Pink Fund.

If Kelly and Bill can do it, you can too! (And they're coming from Atlanta!) Contact [email protected] for more information on joining Team Pink Fund.

LIVING STRONG

752. 168. 20. Out of 752 proposals and 168 semifinalists, we are thrilled to have been selected as one of the Top 20 ventures in breast cancer innovations in the next round of The Big C Competition by LIVESTRONG! In this round, we are participating in the elite Martha and Kozo Shimano Accelerator program.

"DINE TO DONATE" TO SUPPORT THE PINK FUND

Come on out, grab a bite to eat and support The Pink Fund at Granite City on Wednesday, August 20. Present this flyer to your server and 20% of your total tab will be donated to The Pink Fund.

IN MEMORIAM

In a time of great loss, the Emerson family paid it forward with a donation to The Pink Fund in memory of Tina, who passed away on April 20, 2014. Tina worked as a clinical instructor of nursing at The University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. We feel fortunate to have provided some financial assistance to her during her illness.
