Flag Day
June 14, 2015

In the United States Flag Day is celebrated on June 14, commemorating the adoption of the 13-star flag of the United St
ates, by resolution of the Second Continental Congress in 1777.

President Truman signed an Act of Congress in 1949 designating
June 14th of each year as
National Flag Day.

On June 14, 1777, Continental Congress adopted the 13-Star flag. The design of the flag has been modified 26 times officially, since 1777.

The 48-star flag design flew for 47 years until the 49-star version became official on July 4, 1959.

The 50-star flag was ordered by President Eisenhower on August 21, 1959 and is now the longest official design at 52 years.

All 27 official designs are recognized as an American flag  and can still be flown as a United States Flag today.
