Increasing Transparency in Westlake...one click at a time!

Local governments across the U.S. are focused more than ever in making their public records accessible to an increasingly engaged citizenry.

The Town of Westlake has recently completed an update to our website’s public information page.  The link at the bottom of the page will send you to a document repository which allows access to public documents that can be key word searched.  You can search our municipality minutes back to 1957, school board minutes back to 2003, and also resolutions for both the Town and Academy

Using this link to access the repository you will be taken to the Town’s weblink page hosted by Mcci.  You will then see a Westlake, TX folder.  Clicking on that folder will allow access to a Town of Westlake and Westlake Academy folder, with a click on either of those folders it will reveal a minute and resolution folders.

While the entire repository is key word searchable we would recommend you narrow the scope of your search by either year or a least common word.  Searching by ‘Mayor’ or ‘Student’ would return thousands of documents.  Searching by ‘Election’ or ‘handbook’ would return several hundred but if you narrowed your search by selecting the year the search may return only a few documents.  Questions?  Contact Town Secretary Kelly Edwards.

Under Construction Sign-Cone
Construction activity ramping up along FM 1938 through Keller & Southlake

Our Keller and Southlake neighbors are working away on Phase II of FM1938 (Davis Blvd) and we want our residents to be prepared for delays as they travel south along this route. Work began this week on the right-of-way areas and crews will soon be placing temporary signals at the intersection of FM 1938 and FM 1709 in preparation of a future traffic switch. In the coming weeks construction activity will begin on the following side roads near FM 1938:  Beam Drive, Kingswood Drive, Palomar Trail, Hillside Court, and  Top Rail Lane. Message boards have been placed at the project limits and will be used to announce future road work to motorists. Please be sure to drive carefully and on alert for for construction workers.

As you may recall, this $20.6 million Phase II TxDOT project is widening the roadway to two lanes in each direction with raised curbed medians and includes dual left turn bays at the intersection of FM 1938 and FM 1709.  The project also includes landscaping along the roadway with illumination and sidewalks on both sides of the roadway provided by the city of Southlake.  The 1.6-mile project is estimated for completion in 2017.
Communities to observe National Day of Prayer at Noon Thursday, May 7
Did you know each year, families and supporters from the communities of Roanoke, Trophy Club, & Westlake join together and gather at noon on this day around the Trophy Club Clock Tower off of Trophy Club Drive, just north of SH 114.

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. If you are free at noon on Thursday, we would love to see you there!
