The Journey: Miami U

Any plans during Winter Term this coming January? Want to make the most of your time by volunteering and impacting a community in need? In partnership with the Association of Fraternal Leadership & Values (AFLV), the Cliff Alexander Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life will embark on The Journey: Miami University from January 10 to January 16 in New Orleans, LA. This immersion trip will allow students the opportunity to help and support the local New Orleans community. The program will cost participants $650 which includes food, lodging, program material, and all on-site transportation; participants will have to manage their travel down to New Orleans. If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact Danny Catalano at catalad@miamioh.edu or 513-529-2131.

It's time to apply for ACROPOLIS

We are now accepting applications for ACROPOLIS, our annual emerging leaders program where we seek out the best and brightest rising leaders in the Miami fraternity/sorority community! This year's program will be held October 25-27th at Camp Joy in Clarksville, OH. Each chapter is required to send at least one representative, though we encourage additional members to apply. Applications are available HERE and are due by Sunday, September 29th at 11:45 pm. If you have any questions, please contact Tyler Wade at wadetj@miamioh.edu.

Sustainability at Miami

The Physical Facilities Department (PFD) is interested in partnering with fraternities and sororities on campus to put on Miami's inaugural Zero Waste Football Game! The game is scheduled for Saturday, October 19th. Forty students are needed to man 20 stations located around Yager Stadium from 12 to 4pm, though shifts are encouraged. If your chapter would want to learn more about this opportunity, please contact Tyler Wade at wadetj@miamioh.edu. This event would be a fantastic Community Advancement Program submission!

Fraternal Excellence Awards Reminder

All Fraternal Excellence Award reflections from Spring semester are due by September 30.  Remember, all reflections must be based off an approved program.  Here are a few tips:

  • Program reflections MUST be based upon an approved pillar program
  • Remember to put the name of your organization and the CAP program in EACH reflection
  • Each reflection must be under 400 words.
  • Submit FEA programs here: https://muhub.collegiatelink.net/form/start/23045
  • Deadline: September 30

The 2013 Andrew Herman Memorial Chapter Excellence Award Winner Submissions can be found on the resource page of our website later this week!

Volunteer Opportunities!

Kramer Carnival is Kramer Elementary School's major fundraiser put on by Kramer PTG (Parent Teacher Group).  The money raised is used for the student's Field Trips, Reading at Home program, COSI on Wheels, Talawanda-Miami Science Week, Family Event Nights, etc.  During Kramer Carnival kids and parents can come to the school parking lot and enjoy tons of Bouncy Houses, games, food, even a silent auction.  In order to make this event a success we needs lots of volunteers to run these activities.  Every year we appreciate the time that Miami students give us.  It's a lot of fun too!!

This year Kramer Carnival is Saturday, September 14th from 3-7pm.  We'll be looking for about 10 students for each shift -- shifts will be only about 2 hours starting at 2pm (set up) til 8pm (clean up). To sign up, contact Alex Rollins at rollina2@miamioh.edu

If you are interested in volunteering, please register HERE

All volunteers will receive a gift of appreciation for their time. Please sign up by Monday, September 16th.
