Westland Summer Festival Runs Through Sunday - The Westland Summer Festival will continue through Sunday, July 7th on the grounds of Westland City Hall, located at 36601 Ford Road.  Visitors will enjoy carnival rides, food concessions, live music, a petting farm, pancake breakfast, a banana derby, premier animal attractions and much more.  Free parking and a shuttle service will be provided at John Glenn High School and the William P. Firefighters Host Fundraiser for Fallen Westland Firefighter Brian Woehlke -The Western-Wayne Professional Firefighters Local 1279 will host the Brian Woehlke Benefit Dinner on Saturday, July 6th from 4 p.m. - midnight at the Hellenic Cultural Center, located at 36375 Joy Road.  There will be dinner, beer, wine, 50/50 raffles, silent auctions, fishing trips and gun raffles.  Tickets are $20 and all donations received will go the trust for Brian's daughter Ava.

  

  

  • Scheduled Upcoming Civic Meetings - Residents are invited to attend the upcoming City meetings.  Below is a list of the meetings with their date, time and location:
    • The Tax Increment Finance Authority (TIFA) will meet at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9 in the Council Conference Room, located at 36601 Ford Rd.
    • The Police & Fire Retirement Board will meet on Monday, July 8 at 5:00 p.m. in the Police Department Conference Room, located at 36701 Ford Rd.

     

    Mud Day Returns to Hines Park - The 26th Annual Mud Day event will be held on Tuesday, July 9 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Hines Park Nankin Mills Area located on Hines Dr., east of Ann Arbor Trail.  Wayne County Parks will transform the Hines Park - Nankin Mills Area into a giant 75' X 150' mud pit playground for thousands of kids to get down and dirty.  Children should wear old clothes and shoes and bring a clean change of clothes.  For more information, please call (734) 261-1990 or email [email protected].

     

    The All American Cruise Comes to the "All American City" - Car enthusiasts are revved up for the 1st Annual All American Cruise that will be held on Saturday, July 13.  The cruise will take place on Wayne Road from Joy to Glenwood from noon - 6 p.m.

     

     

    Cyclists, Skaters, Runners & Walkers Enjoy Hines Park Traffic Free - Saturday's in the Park have returned to Hines Drive and offers visitors the opportunity to walk, run, skate or cycle safely from 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. without the concern of motor vehicle traffic.  Hines Drive will be closed every Saturday from Ann Arbor Trail to Outer Drive through September 8, 2013.  For more information, please call (734) 261-1990 or visit www.parks.waynecounty.com.

      

    Get Your Tickets to the Kelly Miller Circus - The Kelly Miller Circus is coming to Attwood Park, located at 33601 Annapolis, on Saturday, August 10 for two shows, one at 2 p.m. and one at 5:30 p.m.  Tickets are now on sale at the following locations, Wayne Westland Community Center, Mark Chevrolet, Jack Demmer Ford, Henry's Service Center, Wayne-Westland Federal Credit Union and the Westland Municipal Golf Course.
