NEW TASTE MARKETPLACE, the Bay Area's friendliest community food event, returns to sunny Potrero Hill this Saturday, June 22, noon-5PM with an outdoor beer & wine garden, amazing independent vendors and a great new lineup of local cooks, butchers & bakers.... heavy on the Oakland!
What's for lunch? Well, for starters how about perfect pastrami sandwiches from Jablow's Meats; hot vegetarian lumpia from Hella Lumpia; super-fresh California soul cuisine from Keena's Kitchen. Or sample some rabbit rillettes, hot green chile, tender jerk chicken or savory pies. Take a break for refreshment: in the backyard, Almanac Beer will be pouring a selection of its crazy-delicious " Farm to Bottle" artisan brews; or try the "Urban People's Common Lager" from Linden Street Brewery in the Port of Oakland; artisanal honey-sweetened lemonade from Hey Honey!; local wines from The Winery SF or the sophisticated non-alcoholic herbal drinks from Brilliant Elixirs.
Then wander around to pick up a variety of delicious treats: alfajores, handmade marshmallows, flan, marzipan chocolate bars, lemon mochi, an assortment of handmade breads, fresh cheeses, and even some kale chips. Don't miss the hands-on sausage-making demonstration by Boucherie Artisan Meats!
Bring your friends, neighbors and kids to enjoy the beautiful space and the relaxed vibe; meet old friends and favorite vendors; talk with some of the city's most interesting chefs and artisan food producers; listen to DJ Kool Karlo; eat, drink, hang out... and help support a food pantry that provides fresh, free groceries to 500 families every week. It's food for the soul!
