Bring Music Into Storytime

Seeing a story through your child's eyes as you read together is magical. And when you bring music into storytime, it becomes even more special.

Check out our video, "Using Your Singalong Storybook Musically" for some ideas about enhancing your children's favorite books based on songs. The activities demonstrated by the Music Together teacher will work with any of our Singalong Storybooks or your child's other favorites.

Introducing  Two Little Blackbirds

This Sing With Your Child Month, we're also celebrating the release of our tenth Singalong Storybook, Two Little Blackbirds. Based on a song from the upcoming Triangle Song Collection (Spring 2015), this book tells the story of "two little blackbirds" named Jack and Jill. They fly away and return over and over as they build their nest, hatch their eggs, and teach their babies to fly.

Available in both hardcover and board-book formats, each purchase includes a song download and activities to try at home.
Musical Craft: Simple Blackbird Puppets

Bring "Two Little Blackbirds" to life with puppets. Your family can sing and act out the story from the Singalong Storybook---or make up your own! You can make simple blackbird puppets with black construction paper, googly eyes, and Popsicle sticks.

Download the pattern (right) and use it to cut blackbirds from construction paper. (Or print on white paper and ask your children to color their blackbird first.) Add googly eyes and paste the cutout onto a Popsicle stick. Voila!
