Voices of L.A.: Songs of Experience by the Hollywood Master Chorale

June 22, 7:30 p.m.
West Hollywood Library - City Council Chambers
625 N. San Vicente Boulevard
William Blake was arguably one of the world's first straight allies. Though he himself was not gay, his poetry and art argued for freedom in love, and strongly influenced many artists and activists over the years. Similarly, the composers of new works based on William Blake's poetry for Voices of LA are not gay, but supportive. One composer describes his piece as "A love song, looking towards the future with optimism. It is too true even today that, for some, 'Love! sweet Love! [is] thought a crime'." Partially funded by the City of West Hollywood through a grant from its Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission. www.hollywoodmasterchorale.org
