News from the Registrar's Office
Can you speak Portuguese?
The Registrar's Office is looking to hire a student fluent in Portuguese with good writing skills and organizational skills. If you are interested and qualified, please email Marilyn Mason, Registrar.
Nominations for Teaching in Excellence Award
Nominations for The King's University College Award For Teaching in Excellence will be accepted until November 15, 2013. Students who wish to nominate a faculty member should direct their letters or emails to Marilyn Mason, Registrar. Letters or emails should include the name of the nominated faculty member as well as the reasons for the nomination (such as classroom instruction, mentoring, curriculum or course design, tutoring and advising or innovative teaching methods). Psychology Information Session
Attention King's Psychology Students, and all those potentially interested in pursuing a degree in Psychology:
October 15th from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. in Vitali Lounge the King's Psychology Club will be hosting an information session for Psychology Students. The first hour will be directed towards first/second year students and will cover all the psych courses offered at King's, as well as module information and time for Q&A.
The second hour (7 p.m. - 8 p.m.) will be an information session on graduate school in psychology, hosted by 2 awesome King's Psych Profs!

Canadian Astronaut Chris Hadfield speaks at youth conference
Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield will be speaking at the 2014 IMPACT! Youth Conference for Sustainability Leadership. He will share a truly unique perspective on the earth and society. After his talk, Colonel Hadfield will spend some one-on-one time with the 175 students selected to participate.
Spots at the conference are limited and the October 20 application deadline is fast approaching. The conference will take place in Guelph from May 23-26, 2014. In addition to Chris Hadfield, you will work alongside leading sustainability experts to deepen your understanding of sustainability challenges and network with like-minded individuals.
Note that to be eligible to apply you must be studying at a Canadian College or University at the time of the Conference and be between 19-25 years of age. Click here for more information.

Ontario launches PSE student mental health help line
The Ontario government last week launched a new mental health help line for PSE students that provides professional counselling, mental-health information and connections to local resources. Students who are concerned about student life, health or mental well-being can call Good2Talk, a free, province-wide service that operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The province also announced that it will support 10 new projects at colleges and universities that will aim to improve access to mental health services and connect students more quickly to support services. The help line is part of Ontario's $257-million Mental Health and Addictions Strategy, announced in the 2011 Budget, and is delivered by Kids Help Phone, ConnexOntario, 211Ontario, the Ontario Centre for Excellence in Child and Youth Mental Health, and PSE institutions.

Study families needed
King's professor Carrie Arnold is looking for participants for a six-week program working with grieving caregivers and their children ages 7 through 12, with the aim of supporting and reconnecting the family through this challenging time in their lives.
Groups will run concurrently and will meet weekly, for six weeks. For more information, please contact Professor Arnold.
