NAMI Northern Virginia's Family-to-Family
is a series of 12 weekly classes structured to help family members, partners and friends understand and support individuals living with a mental health condition. The course is facilitated by a team of trained family member volunteers, and is offered free of cost to participants.
Family-to-Family class participants will:
- Learn about symptoms and treatment for mental illnesses such as depression, bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, PTSD, OCD, panic disorder, borderline personality disorder, co-occuring mental illness and addictive disorders, etc.
- Learn problem solving and communication techniques
- Receive guidance on locating appropriate supports and services within the Northern Virginia community
- Connect with other families and share resources
