The Summit Steward program had another successful year educating hikers about the rare and fragile alpine ecosystem on top of New York's highest peaks. This year the Stewards had to brave a heavy May snowfall and one of the wettest Junes on record, all while speaking with over 23,000 hikers! This year also marked the largest crew the program has ever had, including two botany stewards. Finally, the program took on the largest number of new volunteers. All together the Summit Steward team was comprised of eight staff and eleven volunteers. You can find out more about the Summit Steward program in 2013 End of Season Report.
If you would like to support his program consider making a donation, your support is greatly appreciated!
