Unfortunately, Dr Christine Cordery has decided to take a leave of absence during 2014 to devote additional time to her family.  This is not a decision she has made lightly, and she regrets the disruption this will cause her patients. We know that as many of our patients are also parents, family must always come first, and Chris thanks you for your understanding. 

Chris will continue to provide some locum services when Bryan and Steven are away, and will continue to deliver our IV sedation services when required.  With all things going well, she intends to return to us in 2015. 

The Australian Government is set to introduce on 1 January 2014, the Child Dental Benefits Schedule to families eligible for Family Tax Benefit Part A, as well as some other benefit recipients.  The current Medicare Teen Dental Voucher scheme will cease at the end of this year.

We support this government initiative, however with the change of government, information as to its implementation is yet to be provided.  At this stage, we intend to implement this scheme in the same way we have dealt with other Government schemes, including the Medicare Chronic Disease Dental Scheme.

We will charge you a fee for our services using the approved Medicare Schedule Item numbers, and then you will need to claim them from Medicare.  We do not intend to Bulk Bill Medicare for these services.

Orion Dental Centre is a general dental practice.  This means our dentists have a range of skills and experience (collectively greater than 40 years) able to help you with your dental needs.   To remind you of all the things we can help you with, we thought it timely to let you know the range of treatments we routinely provide:

• check ups and professional cleans
• fillings (restorations)
• tooth removal (extractions)
• root canal treatments (endodontics)
• children's dentistry (paedodontics)
• full and partial dentures, as well as denture repairs
• crowns, bridges and implants
• teeth whitening, both in office and at home

Some other services, such as orthodontics, we have arranged for Dr Laura Barbagallo from Exact Orthodontics to provide regular sessions at our practice.  For some other complex or specialist services, we might refer you to our network of experienced dental specialists for treatment to be undertaken at their rooms.

IT Upgrade  Update

We have upgraded our practice management software to the latest release which has introduced a couple of new features, most of which will be invisible to you at your next visit.  One thing you will notice is a different SMS reminder.  We ask that you respond 'Yes' to confirm you appointment, and the practice software will 'automagically' let us know you are coming.  You can also respond with a normal Text message if you wish to cancel, or alter your appointment. 

As has always been our practice policy, if you do not attend you appointment, or cancel within 24 hours, we reserve the right to apply an administrative fee to your account to cover the costs associated with this missed appointment.
