Mayor William Wild Names Former Novi Assistant Treasurer 

as Westland's New Budget Director
 

Westland, MI ---- Debra Peck, CPA has several years of experience in budget financing and is bringing that background to Westland.

 

Mayor Wild recently appointed her as Budget Director for the City. Prior to joining the Westland team, she held several positions with the city of Novi including - most recently - Assistant City Treasurer.   

 

She also served as Novi's Senior Financial Manager and Water and Sewer Financial Services Specialist.

 

"Deb Peck comes to the city with a wealth of knowledge and vast experience," said Mayor Wild. "Ms. Peck's financial acumen and leadership qualities make her a fine addition to Westland's financial team." 

 

In her new position as Budget Director, she is responsible for developing and monitoring the annual and five-year budget forecast for the 10th largest city in the state of Michigan with a population of more than 84,000 residents. 

 

"I am looking forward to providing the necessary expertise that will assist the Mayor, City Council and the administration in making sound financial decisions benefiting the Westland community," said Peck.

 

Peck will assist the Finance Director in management of the City's financial administration, including managing general ledger, debt service, grant reporting, financial analysis, financial reporting, and other accounting functions.   She will also be involved in the supervision and training of the Finance Department staff.

 

Peck is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) who began her career with Plante Moran, LLP as a member of their municipal audit practice. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA).  She also holds the Advanced Certified Public Funds Investment Manager certification. Peck is a member of the MGFOA, GFOA, MACPA, AICPA, APTUS&C and MMTA.  In addition, she has served on several non-profit boards stating, "I believe it is important to give back to the community."
