Do we need

Operation Feed?

YES! Although Licking County is a prosperous community, there are many people who find themselves in difficult situations and in need of receiving emergency food distribution. In 2014, the member agencies of the Food Pantry Network of Licking County served 1,460,000 meals to 336,000 individuals. Approximately 35% of the recipients are children and infants who have no control over their situation.  During the month of March, the Mission and Social Action Committee will be collecting financial donations to support the efforts of the Food Pantry Network of Licking County. Envelopes are available on the Welcome Table. Please make checks payable the United Church of Granville and write Food Pantry on the memo line.

6th Annual Community Intercultural Relations Conference

April 10, 8:30-1:00
OSU-N/COTC
John Gilbert Reese Center Room 125 F&G, $15/person

Local business leaders, social services, residents, and college students, staff and faculty will engage in interactive activities, including a world café to become effective agents for change.

During the conference, attendees will gain a better understanding of how implicit bias can influence the many ways we engage with each other. We will use social media and videos to demonstrate the way decisions can be made based on these biases. By the end of the conference, attendees will share ideas, gain knowledge and develop awareness strategies to reduce and eliminate implicit bias for a more inclusive environment for all to live and work.

RSVP by April 3, here!

Thought for the Day

"Isn't it the moment of most profound doubt that gives birth to new certainties? Perhaps hopelessness is the very soil that nourishes human hope; perhaps one could never find sense in life without first experiencing its absurdity."

Another Big Welcome
--this week to Mark Uher, who was received into membership at UCG during last Sunday's worship service!  We're looking forward to growing with you, Mark, in friendship and spiritual community!

Palm Sunday is this weekend, and we're in for a fun service of hearing the call of the shofar, waving eco-palms, and recommitting to "taking it to the streets."  What are you "taking to the streets?"  Joanna Samuelson will be preaching, and we'd love to get a group photo of everyone with their palms after church (outside, weather permitting!).

Anyone who would like to join the opening palm-waving processional should be at church by 9:50 to gather in the chapel for some instructions.  Kids and singers will lead the way!  Come join the fun!

Dwight

Tonight, our Final Lenten Supper!

Wednesday, March 25
6:00-7:30 PM

Join us for supper in the Chapel.  Suggested donation, $7.50/adult (max $15/family; kids eat free).  We'll gather in the Chapel to eat together, then the kids will be able to go to the Annex for a guided activity. Adults will be watching a short segment from the PBS film,   "The Power of Forgiveness," and having a discussion to follow.  A great way to "set Lent apart," to enjoy a healthy meal with friends, and to build deeper relationships.   All are welcome!   A big "Thank You" to Joanna Samuelson and Kitty Leatham for organizing these opportunities for us to get to know one another better.

Play Café at UCG!

Wednesdays, 3:30-5:00

Play Cafe has been a great success! Children and their parents, grandparents or nannies have attended. The children love pulling each other around on the wagon, coloring and playing pretend rescue games with the little riding toys. Many adults have met for the first time or become reacquainted. Our largest group was 29 children!

Please come and check it out on Wednesdays from 3:30-5:00--our last day will be April 1st.

Thank you!
