The Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey (SHCC-NJ) announced today that it has chosen Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey (Horizon BCBSNJ) as the organization's Official Sponsor of Health and Wellness.

This designation means that Horizon BCBSNJ is the health insurance carrier of choice for the more than 70,000 Hispanic-owned businesses across the state whose interests are represented by the SHCC-NJ.

For the past ten years, Horizon BCBSNJ has worked closely with the SHCC-NJ to bring a greater awareness to how Hispanics can access health insurance benefits -- and the health delivery system -- to improve their health and wellness. Through such cultural-specific initiatives as a bilingual website (Horizonblue.com/HorizonAzul.com), bi-lingual sales and service representatives and community outreach programs to Hispanic neighborhoods and organizations, Horizon BCBSNJ has made a commitment to New Jersey's Hispanic residents and businesses that is unrivaled by any other health insurance carrier.

Horizon BCBSNJ worked with the chamber in the Emmy winning  30-mimute documentary Su Salud Primero/Your Health First which explored the health issues, barriers to health care, and preventive and wellness programs available to New Jersey's Latino residents. Aired on NJTV, the documentary was written and produced by William Sanchez, Executive Producer and Emmy Award winning director of the Images/Imagenes television program, and was narrated by John Qui�ones, award winning ABC News Reporter.
