Dear Friends,
The Martha's Vineyard Youth Leadership Initiative needs your help. For four years MVYLI has been investing in Vineyard youth through Youth Leadership Summit, college prep, Job Shadow Day, mentoring, entrepreneurship, and sustainable projects that are making a tangible impact on their futures and the Vineyard. As the community sees our youth realizing their dreams, we are being asked to expand our programs to reach more Vineyard youth.
Thanks to you I have a career path I am happy with, I have the skills to network and I feel better prepared for anything the future holds. What you're doing for the youth on Martha's Vineyard is absolutely incredible. On behalf of myself and all those kids who you've helped: Thank you!

Expanding College Prep, Field Trip & Scholarship Program: We've created a report on our success (2009-2013). http://conta.cc/17YryeX
In addition to our weekly College Prep sessions and Field Trips, MVYLI's new Mentoring Program builds on our annual Job Shadow Day. We've held Entrepreneurship Workshops. And for the first time, we helped bring the ACT College Test to the Martha's Vineyard Public Charter School! http://conta.cc/17raqQv
Expanding Outreach to Vineyard Middle Schools: Building on last fall's Multicultural Assembly at MVRHS: MVYLI youth are creating a Multicultural Education/Community Event. It will enhance youth language arts and public speaking skills; build bridges among cultures and between middle and high school students; and help create a culturally respectful and positive learning environment. http://conta.cc/SxVoeU
New Partnerships: Sustainable Vineyard Project with MV Chamber of Commerce is the outgrowth of our four-year project from our annual Youth Leadership Summit for Sustainable Development. MVYLI youth are developing a Sustainability Blog with short videos to feature on the Chamber's website. http://tinyurl.com/mvyli-svm
Expanding MVYLI's Team - We are grateful for our high quality team working (part-time) with MVYLI youth. Galen Ryley is a guidance counselor from Rhode Island; Adrienne Forgette is the new English teacher at the high school and a Walter Cronkite School of Journalism Fellow. Rebecca MacCarthy is a new immigration lawyer.
We invite you to consider MVYLI as your year-end contribution. Our annual budget is $250,000. Local businesses donate $30,000 in-kind. Since MVYLI receives no government funding, we depend on the support of people like you who love Martha's Vineyard. With your investment in their future we will build a new generation of leaders.
We wish you and your loved ones a wonderful holiday season.
