Greetings,

On March 22nd, the storied Takcs Quartet, universally acknowledged to be one of the finest quartets performing in the world today, makes a return visit to Tulsa to play music by Haydn, Schubert, and Beethoven.

In an astonishing review of a recent concert by the quartet, the New York Times writes: "From even the most prominent of string quartets, a program of Schubert, Mozart and Beethoven might come across as stolid. After all, there are so many foursomes around now that scoff at every kind of boundary . . . But the Takcs Quartet always shows that there is, and must be, room for insightful, intense performances of major works. That was its achievement in a superb appearance on Thursday: revealing the familiar as unfamiliar, making the most traditional of works feel radical once more." (February 26, 2015)

Don't miss this outstanding quartet. Order tickets early because we anticipate it will sell out.

The Danish String Quartet WOWS Tulsa!

It was a huge thrill to have the Danish String Quartet in Tulsa during February. Thank you to everyone who participated in the events that weekend, which included playing three sets at the Hardesty Arts Center during the Brady Arts District First Friday Art Crawl (shown above), a masterclass for the winners of our high school chamber music competition (co-sponsored with Tulsa Camerata), and a SOLD OUT Sunday afternoon concert at the Williams Theatre. Everyone agreed that this is indeed a very special quartet and we look forward to having them return at some point in the future.

Unusual New Ensemble: The Reed Quintet

We were very pleased to host an unusual ensemble for our 2nd annual Volunteer and Donor appreciation event during the last week of February. The Akropolis Reed Quintet (shown above) has won numerous awards and competitions and delighted the crowd with their virtuosity. The reed quintet (oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, bass clarinet) is a recent phenomenon, having developed in the last 30 years. We expect that it will be an ensemble we will be seeing more of over the years. It is exciting to witness the beginnings of this distinctive group!

Cheers,
