Artist Talk: Erica Spitzer Rasmussen

Local fiber artist and Textile Center Board Member Erica Spitzer Rasmussen creates mixed media and handmade paper garments. She received her BFA (1990) and MFA (1997) from the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis), which included coursework in Mexico and Greece. Her current work explores issues of identity and corporeality, often utilizing clothing as a metaphor for one's skin. Rasmussen teaches studio arts as an Associate Professor at Metropolitan State University (St. Paul, MN) and is Director of the Gordon Parks Gallery. Rasmussen will address her painstaking, time-consuming attempts to make talismanic objects about and for the body. This event is free, open to the public, and does not require registration.
