Scheduled Upcoming Civic Meetings - Residents are invited to attend the upcoming City meetings.  Below is a list of the meetings with their date, time and location.

 - The Westland Rehabilitation Review Board will hold its meeting on Tuesday, August 27th at 4:30pm at The Dorsey Community Center located at 32715 Dorsey Road.

 

Westland Hosts Household Hazardous Waste Collection - Westland Residents may utilize the countywide Household Hazardous Waste Collection scheduled by Wayne County's Department of Public Services on Saturday, August, 24 at the Westland Shopping Center parking lot, located at 35000 Warren Road (lot behind JCPenney's).  The collection runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and items that will be accepted include household paints, stains, lawn and garden chemicals, old computers and tv's, antifreeze and several other items.  Pharmaceutical waste (non-controlled substances only) and medical sharps in puncture-proof containers will also be accepted.  All waste must be from residential sources only.  For more information, please call 734-326-3936. 
 
3rd Annual Hines Park Cruise- The 3rd annual Cruisin' Hines will be held on Sunday, August 25th.  The park opens at 9 a.m. for cruisers and cruisers must enter at Merrimen Rd./Merrimen Hollow Pavilion.  Spectators can enter at Merrimen Rd., Telegraph Rd. and Warrendale.  Pavilions will be open to the public and there will be vendors offering food and event goodies.  The event runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.  For more information, contact Don Nicholson at (734)658-5296.
 
Summer Concert at Goudy Park- The Wayne/Westland Parks and Recreation Department invites you to enjoy a concert on Wednesday, August 28st from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Goudy Park.  The artist who is performing is Phillip Bickford who sings Christian Rock and is sponsored by Rotary, Civitans and Ripple Effect.  Please bring the family and enjoy some great summer music and fun. 
 
Westland Charhouse One Year Anniversary- The anniversary celebration will be on Wednesday, August 28th with an "after hours" gathering for Chamber of Commerce members from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., a classic car show, all day happy hour specials and customer appreciation gift certificates for returning guests.  Diners will also be offered a buy one-get one half off entree during the hours of 5 p.m.-7 p.m.  Westland Charhouse is located at 35613 Warren Road.
 
Westland Lions Club Car Show- The Westland Lions Club is having a car show on Sunday, September 1st from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m located at 36595 Warren Rd.  Pre-registration is $15 guarantees a "goody bag" and a "dash plaque" to the first 100 classic cars registered.  The deadline for pre-registration is August 28th.  Registration at the event will be from 10 a.m. to noon and all proceeds benefit the Westland Lions Club.  For more information, call Debbie at (734)721-4216.
 

Westland Farmer's Market Held Every Thursday - The Westland Farmer's Market will be held from 3 - 7 p.m. every Thursday in the City Hall Parking Lot, located at 36601 Ford Road.  This is the ultimate site for farmers, growers and producers to sell their own products directly to the public.  Residents now have the opportunity to catch a FREE ride to the market at the following locations and times. *All times are approximate and dependent on weather, traffic, available space, etc.

Cyclists, Skaters, Runners & Walkers Enjoy Hines Park Traffic Free - Saturday's in the Park have returned to Hines Drive and offers visitors the opportunity to walk, run, skate or cycle safely from 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. without the concern of motor vehicle traffic.  Hines Drive will be closed every Saturday from Ann Arbor Trail to Outer Drive through September 8, 2013.  For more information, please call (734) 261-1990 or visit www.parks.waynecounty.com.
