Scheduled Upcoming Civic Meetings - Residents are invited to attend the upcoming City meetings.  Below is a list of the meetings with their date, time and location:

  • The Westland City Council will hold a Study Session on Monday, June 3 at 6 p.m. in the Council Conference Room, to discuss updates on the New City Hall. 
  • The Westland City Council Meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 3 in the Council Chambers, located at 36601 Ford Road.
  • The Downtown Development Authority (DDA) will meet on  Thursday, June 6 at 8 a.m. in the Council Conference Room.

Library Closed During Implementation of New System - The William P. Faust Public Library will be closed on Monday, June 3 and Tuesday, June 4 for a New Library System Implementation.

 

Mayor Wild Invites Residents to Take a Walk on the "Wild Side" for Charity - Beginning Saturday,June 8 at 10 a.m., join Mayor Wild and Wild's Walkers at Atwood Park, located at 33601 Annapolis, Wayne, for a 24-hour event as teams walk laps as a way to celebrate survivorship and raise money for the American Cancer Society in support for finding a cure.  

 

Westland Celebrates Central City Park Soccer Complex Grand Opening - Join Mayor Wild, other local dignitaries, City Administrators and the Westland Soccer Association for the grand opening of the new Soccer Complex at Thomas H. Brown Central City Park on Saturday, June 8 at 11:30 a.m.

 

Westland Community Weekend at Detroit Institute of Arts - "Community weekends" are another component of this year's DIA program. Residents of Westland will enjoy the City's designated June 8-9, Saturday and Sunday Community Weekend, to visit the museum free and see the actual art work installed in their cities' works. Visitors will receive a 10 percent discount in Caf� DIA and the museum shop, $1 off Detroit Film Theatre (DFT) tickets and free admission to showings of the DFT 101 film series.

 

H�0 Zone Open for Summer - The H�0 Zone Water Spray Park, located at Tattan Park, is now open for the summer season, WEATHER PERMITTING.  Kids are sure to have tons of fun this summer as they play under a large tumble-bucket, shoot water cannons, and play with a sea serpent and even a helicopter that sprays water from the rotors. The Spray Park will be open 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. daily and is FREE.

 

Westland Farmer's Market Held Every Thursday - The Westland Farmer's Market will be held from 3 - 7 p.m. every Thursday in the City Hall Parking Lot, located at 36601 Ford Road.  This is the ultimate site for farmers, growers and producers to sell their own products directly to the public.  For more information, please visit www.cityofwestland.com of call Lori Fodale, Economic Development Director at (734) 467-3264.

 

Cyclists, Skaters, Runners & Walkers Enjoy Hines Park Traffic Free - Saturday's in the Park have returned to Hines Driveand offers visitors the opportunity to walk, run, skate or cycle safely from 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. without the concern of motor vehicle traffic.  Hines Drive will be closed every Saturday from Ann Arbor Trail to Outer Drive through September 8, 2013.  For more information, please call (734) 261-1990 or visit www.parks.waynecounty.com.
