Hire Learning Initiative and Employer Survey to start January 2014

WPH is launching the Hire Learning Initiative in January 2014 to encourage employers to share needed real time local labour market information with the Hamilton community. The initiative was announced on December 11, 2013 at an event featuring keynote speaker Daniel Munro, principal researcher with the Conference Board of Canada.  Munro spoke about the skills mismatch facing Ontario, sharing that a lack of educated workers costs our local economy $1 billion a year.

New Ontario law would protect 'precarious' workers

Ontario is proposing new labour legislation, under which companies that hire temporary agencies would be liable for unpaid wages, severance pay and other Employment Standards Act violations suffered by temporary agency workers. Many of the proposals in the legislation were recommended in the precarious employment report released last February.
