Special Annoucment from Barbara G. Minzenberg, Ph.D., Deputy Secretary of the PA Office of Child Development and Early Learning

I am pleased to announce that Governor Corbett is unveiling an exciting new plan this week called Healthy Pennsylvania. Healthy Pennsylvania is Governor Tom Corbett's plan to ensure that Pennsylvanians have increased access to quality, affordable health care. Pennsylvania is home to a world class health care delivery system, and the initiatives in Healthy Pennsylvania focus on three key priorities: Improving Access, Ensuring Quality and Providing Affordability.

Key points of the Healthy Pennsylvania plan include getting kids insured, promoting access to primary health care - particularly in rural and underserved areas of the state, and creating a coordinated long term care and support system for older Pennsylvanians and persons with disabilities. Healthy Pennsylvania includes common sense reforms to the Medicaid program and a pathway to increase access to health care for uninsured Pennsylvanians. These reforms include aligning benefits with national standards proposed by the Department of Health and Human Services, reasonable premiums, individual responsibility, work search and job training supports.

Available are two documents: Healthy Pennsylvania and Healthy Pennsylvania: Reforming Medicaid. Our next step is to get public comment on the proposal and present the plan to the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services. I hope you take time to read the concept papers and provide your feedback. Public comments can be sent to RA-PWHealthyPA@pa.gov or sent to:
