"So lucky we have @ithacacarshare in this town. Especially when our car is essentially frozen to the street."

"Save money by selling your car. If you don't drive to work carshare is almost as convenient as owning one and at a fraction of the cost.  The price of insurance, gas, parking and repairs per year is more than the price of taking 3 trips per week in a carshare vehicle. So even if someone gave you a used car for free, it is more economical to use carshare."

Green, Greener, Greenest

We are proud to say that 16 of the 24 cars in our fleet are Toyota Prius Cs and Honda Fits, two models that made it to the top of the most recent Greener and Greenest ratings list by GreenerCars.org.

Help us make our fleet even more eco-friendly by following this advice on driving for improved fuel economy.

Tompkins County
Commuter Challenge
Way2Go and Cornell Transportation are teaming up to host a year long commuter challenge

Your daily commute choices do matter
Making little changes can make a big difference in more ways than one.  Help Tompkins County and Cornell University reach their emission reduction goals by 2030 while saving money, increasing productivity and health and meeting new people.

Try switching up your commute once or more a week!

  • Go Car-light!  Use the alternatives more often.
  • Live too far?  Carpool or walk, bike, or take transit part way.
  • Reduce the amount of trips you make a day or week.
Earn Points for Smart Commute Choices!

Zimride makes it easy to keep a Commute Calendar during the challenge.  You'll track your dollars, miles and emissions saved. It will also help pair you to other participating commuters with similar travel patterns. You'll earn points for each time you that you take the bus, walk, bike, carpool, work remotely, or take another mode other than driving alone. You'll compete with other commuters as you track your miles, emissions and money saved while earning points and winning prizes.

Become a Champion!

Ithaca Carshare

For years, Ithaca Carshare has been helping Ithacans choose to bike, walk and use the bus for everyday trips, and providing fuel-efficient vehicles for backup. We've been helping to reduce the money that leaves Ithaca by offering a less expensive way to use a car only when you need it, and created the Easy Access plan as a more affordable option for those on low incomes.

We'd love your help in doing all this, and are ecstatic that we can now thank you with a tax-deductible receipt!

Send your tax-deductible donation check to Ithaca Carshare at PO Box 418, Ithaca, NY 14851-0418, click below, or contact us for other ways to donate.
