January 13, 2015 - Korean American Day

Happy Korean American Day!

Did you know that on January 13, 1903, the first Koreans left their homes to settle in Honolulu, Hawaii in search of a better life? And that this marked the beginning of 100+ years of Korean immigration to America that continues to this day?

This is why on January 13, 2005, the U.S. House and Senate passed resolutions encouraging Americans to commemorate, every January 13, the journey of Koreans who came to the US to become Americans and to help build our new country.

Below is a sampling of some of the voices around our nation on the topic of Korean American Day.

If you are Korean American, be proud today. It's your day!
