Projected Gilardi Road Overcrossing Lift Dates

Caltrans completed the Brace Road Overcrossing lift process at the end of January.  The Brace Road Overcrossing was the third structure to be lifted in the Raise80 project and reopened to traffic ahead of schedule on Friday, February 6 at 4 PM. The next structure to be lifted is the Gilardi Road Overcrossing.

It is projected that construction crews will close the Gilardi Road Overcrossing on Sunday, March 1, 2015 to begin preparing the structure. The overcrossing is scheduled to reopen on Sunday, March 15, 2015.

Interstate 80 at Gilardi Road in Newcastle is tentatively scheduled to be closed to all traffic overnight for six hours oMarch 3 and March 4 from 11:00 PM to 5 AM for the lifting process. An 8-mile detour will be in effect.

During the lift process, all I-80 traffic will be detoured through Highway 193 via Sierra College Boulevard and Taylor Road.

Lift and closure dates are subject to change. Please continue to check the Raise80.com website for construction schedule.

Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday on the Brace, Horseshoe Bar, King, Penryn, Gilardi and Magra overcrossings for miscellaneous structure work.

Be Work Zone Alert
We remind drivers to slow their speed in the work zone. Workers are working within inches of live traffic. Traffic is unpredictable and sudden slowing or stopping may occur. Please do not peer into work zones as this can cause collisions if drivers are not paying attention to their driving.
About the Vertical Clearance "Raise80" Project
This project will increase the vertical clearance of nine overpasses on I-80 between Magra and Loomis. Six of the structures will have the bridge deck raised and the remaining three structures will have the roadway below lowered to achieve the necessary clearance. When complete, all structures will meet today's federal clearance standards for high profile vehicles and national defense.

Please visit www.RAISE80.com for more details and detour maps.
