MISSION OPPORTUNITIES AT WARE ELEMENTARY

Blessings in a Backpack
In the fall of 2012, EPC embarked upon a journey of several missions involving Ware Elementary. One of these outreach programs was Blessings in a Backpack. This program supplies each child with a backpack and fills this backpack with food every week to be sent home on Fridays with under privileged children. Last year we sent over 2500 backpacks of food home. Food items sent this past year include Ramen noodles, applesauce, pop tarts, granola bars, popcorn, ravioli, oatmeal and a drink. This year we have partnered with the Junior League of Longview to supply each child with a piece of fresh fruit or vegetable every week. We are now looking for sponsors for the 2013-2014 school year. The cost to sponsor a child for the entire year is $80. We are trying, once again, to sponsor 100 children. If you are not able at this time to sponsor a child, any donation will be greatly appreciated. Just mark your donation Blessings in A Backpack. Angel Tree for Ware Elementary
EPC will have an Angel Tree this year for 30 little Ware angels. The tree will be in the Narthex starting Dec. 1. These little angels have requested clothing and a 3 item "wish list". If you would like to adopt one of these children, but are not able to shop for them yourself, there are lots of little shopper elves waiting to be put to work, so don't let that keep you from adopting!
Ware Teacher Christmas Luncheon
On Friday, December 13, EPC will be treating the faculty of Ware Elementary to a Christmas lunch. We will be serving homemade Tomato soup with a cranberry/orange marmalade turkey croissant.
We will be at EPC on Thursday, December 12 at noon to start preparing food. Anyone and everyone is invited to come join the fun. We will also need people at Ware on Friday to set up, serve and clean up. The first lunch starts at 10:45 and the last group comes in at 1:00. The Junior League of Longview has agreed to decorate our tables and Diana McMahon will be making Christmas cookies for dessert. Cindy Best is working on a small gift from Ellis Home and Garden for each teacher to take home. If anyone is interested in helping, donating or if you have any questions about any of these Ware Elementary mission opportunities, please feel free to call, text or email Terrye Hudson 903-720-5325 or [email protected]
Today
the faculty at Ware received a Thanksgiving pie from the Butcher Shop today (November 22).

Worship at 9:30. The Lord's Supper will be served using the traditional plates and cups of our Holy Trinity brothers and sisters. This way of taking the elements to the people symbolizes the congregation as recipients of a gracious gift that they share in with their neighbors. It magnifies the Spirit of God has the One who initiates the manna which feeds us. Additionally, it heightens the communal aspect. Immediately following Sunday School we will have a potluck luncheon in Trinity Hall. During the luncheon we will by having the Advent Festival in Trinity Hall. All children and their families will be able to make ornaments. These ornaments will be used on Wednesday evening, December 4 during the Hanging of the Greens service.

Many thanks to our EPC Longview family for the many outpourings of sympathy we received for the loss of our precious grandson, Zack. The cards, plants, food, visits, phone calls, hugs, and prayers have all meant so very much. We know he is in God's hands. Thank you again for your care and concern.
