Locationary's Path to Apple Acquisition Crosses Through
Banff Venture Forum!

Less than a year ago, Locationary presented at the 2012 Banff Venture Forum and received rave reviews for their pitch. Around the same time, Apple replaced Google Maps with Apple's proprietary software and the ensuing uproar prompted Apple's CEO Tim Cook to make an unaccustomed apology - and Locationary's CEO Grant Ritchie to write a TechCrunch article explaining the challenges that Apple faced. The article caught Apple's attention, and 10 months later, the tech giant acquired Locationary in what is believed to be Apple's first Canadian acquisition in a decade.

Locationary's software uses crowdsourced information to provide multi-sourced data that is up-to-date and accurate and while Apple has not disclosed the exact reason for acquiring Locationary, it is safe to assume that Apple Maps is about to take a turn for the better! From its impressive team, to its revolutionary technology, this Canadian startup has much to offer - even to a company as famously innovative as Apple! Congratulations to Locationary, BVF alumni and software pioneer!
