THIS WEEK ...
at the Presbyterian Church in Sudbury
Greetings!
We invite you to worship with us this Sunday, August 4th at 10:00am. Dr. Susan DeHoff will be preaching.

This week's prayers for morning and evening are included below.

Don't forget to check our website and the master calendar for news about upcoming events and updates.
Worship this week, August 4th at 10:00am

Dr. DeHoff's sermon is "The Meaning of Faith, Part II" based on Hosea 11.1-11; Psalms 107.1-9, 43. In "The Meaning of Faith, Part I" we said that biblical faith has to do with faith in SOMEONE, not just in something. We also said that the Someone in whom we have faith must be Someone who is trustworthy: Someone who has power to give and sustain life, grace to forgive any offense that we intentionally or inadvertently cause, and love to reach down and grasp us when we are lost. On August 4th we will focus on the Someone in whom we place our trust and explore the basis on which we place this much trust in the God in whom we profess to have faith. So, another homework assignment: jot down some notes about your own reasons for trusting God with the things that are of ultimate concern to you. Ultimately, at the end of the day, what really is your greatest concern, and why do you trust God with that ultimate concern? (Relax; you won't be asked to share your notes!).

I greet this new day with joy, O Lord, for you are my light and my hope. Do not let me fall prey to the anxieties of this world, or be tempted by false charms, but keep me ever faithful to you, for Jesus' sake. Amen

Evening

Holy Comforter, Protector, and Deliverer, at the close of this day I entrust to you all my life and all those I hold dear, knowing that your tender mercies cover all my failings and all my fears. Thank you for your unending love. Amen
