This week at BFCCPS:
February 4, 2015

Dear BFCCPS Community,

Each month, Scope and Sequence documents are distributed for each grade level. The documents have recently been updated to a more user-friendly format and we hope you'll take a chance to check them out.

As a parent myself, I know that it is often hard to get a complete understanding of what my girls might be learning in the classroom, at the end of a busy day, the typical response to "What did you learn today?" might be "Nothing" or "I forget."

We encourage you to use these Scope and Sequence documents as conversation starters with your children. If you have any questions regarding the Scope and Sequence for your students, I invite you to send an email to your student's homeroom teacher.

Please note that a few of the February Scope and Sequence documents will be posted this evening. If you don't see your particular grade level updated just yet, we ask you to please check back Thursday morning for the updated versions.

Sincerely,

Heather Zolnowski
Head of School

Updates from the BFCCPS Health Office:
January and February are peak months for influenza, and there are students in our school community who have been diagnosed with influenza. Attached is a link to the CDC's "The Flu: a Guide for Parents."  A link to this information is also available on the Health Office webpage.

Please remember to keep your child home from school if (s)he has a fever greater than 100.0 within the last 24 hours, or has vomited within the last 24 hours.  If your child is diagnosed with influenza or strep throat, please let the Health Office know.

Also, please remember that hand-washing is an excellent way to help prevent spreading germs and getting sick.  For visual confirmation that hand-washing works, check out these petri dishes growing germs from hands pre and then post hand-washing.  Notice how many fewer germs grew from the washed hands!
Reminders from the Front Office:

Absences: Please call the school office to report any student absence. Leave your child's name, grade, and date. 508-541-3434. If you have a dismissal change, please email your child's teacher and Laura Tappin [email protected] with the details. Thank you.

Inclement Weather Procedures:  If the Franklin Public Schools are cancelled or delayed, BFCCPS is also usually cancelled or delayed.  Please look or listen for "FRANKLIN PUBLIC SCHOOLS" on local radio and television stations. We will use the Blackboard notification system to provide phone and email updates with regards to cancellations and delays. For expanded information please see this page on the school website.
