What's Happening at Brevard Family Partnership
Welcome from the CEO

Dear Friends,

It's hard to believe that it has been a year since the release of the invitation for organizations to negotiate for Brevard County's Community Based Care contract. After eighteen months of preparation for its solicitation and procurement, Brevard Family Partnership was once again awarded the contract to serve as the Child Welfare Lead Agency for the next five years. It has been over 10 years now since our community originally initiated the transformation of Brevard County's child welfare system and I am pleased to report that, as a result of the dedication and commitment of our community partners, all of the goals set forth have been achieved.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time for the community to come together and build awareness and a movement towards safe and healthy relationships for all individuals and families.  Domestic violence touches every person in our community and society as a whole; and violates a person's dignity, safety, and basic human rights.

Stand up as a champion for survivors and join the movement for a safer and healthier community by participating in some of the local events in our community this month:

10/11: Take Back the Night

10/18: Dude Looks Like a Lady: Men Against Domestic Violence

Holiday Gift Drive
Brighten the holidays for local children who need a little Christmas cheer!

Every year, Brevard Family Partnership joins Children's Home Society of Florida, Devereux, and Brevard C.A.R.E.S. to ensure every child in our care has a gift to open on Christmas day.

It is only with the community's support that we are able to provide gifts for these children and help make their holiday season merry and bright. You can help!

How do I help? IT'S EASY!

  • Engage your employees and "adopt" as many children as you can as an organization! We'll provide you with specific wishes from the children you request.
  • Make a financial donation to Brevard Family Partnership and specify the funds be used to purchase gifts . We'll do the shopping!

DCM Highlight: Steve Glywasky

Steve Glywasky has been a case manager with CHS since 2001 after serving as a child protective investigator with DCF for a little over a year. He is often teased about being one of the youngest and the oldest DCMs on the team having started his career right after graduating from college. Steve has had the opportunity to participate in the child welfare transformation from a state run agency to a privatized one and he has successfully navigated it.

Steve's passion for child welfare stems from his desire to help kids. He says that the teens are the most rewarding, though they give him the greatest challenge. His most memorable moments encompass the adoptions of children he has had the opportunity to serve. Steve says that getting a child to that point is probably one of the best feelings and the greatest motivator to keep doing this work.

Steve fills his personal time enjoying his beautiful wife Dana and their son Maddox. He is also a diehard NY Mets fan and he enjoys a good round of golf. Steve is looking forward to continuing serving Florida's children and growing the Glywasky brood here in Brevard County.

Keep up the good work, Steve!
