A Place at the Table
Friday, October 18th at 6:30pm
Sen. Eldridge, guest speaker

A compelling movie, A Place at the Table, starring Jeff Bridges will be the center piece of a weekend of events focusing on hunger in our community. 50 million Americans - 1 in 4 children - don't know where their next meal is coming from. A Place at the Table tells the powerful stories of three such Americans, who maintain their dignity even as they struggle just to eat. A Place at the Table shows how the issue could be solved forever, once the American public decides, as they have in the past, that ending hunger is in the best interests of all of us.

State Senator Jamie Eldridge, a forceful advocate for ending hunger in our communities, will introduce the film and will share his understand of the growing seriousness of the problem locally. The film tells us that the average food stamp recipient must live on just $3 a day. Sen. Eldridge can speak directly to this experience as he has regularly spent extended periods living under regional food stamp rations to better understand the decisions people must make.

Bridges, who is also Founder of the End Hunger Network, says," If another nation was doing this to our children, we'd be at war." See official movie site here.
