Farm News & Tom's ReflectionsOctober Reflections
I love to cook dinner with what is freshly harvested and packed into the CSA shares. By cooking, I link the natural world of the farm with the social world of family and friends. For me cooking is a special way to connect with the crops we grow and transform them into a nourishing meal to share with the people I love.
With October here our Coastal Summer has arrived, and I know I only have a few weeks left to enjoy the last of our summer favorites. Continue reading on our web site

CSA & Farm NewsComing Soon - New Season Sign-ups!
We are putting together all the pieces for 2013-14 Winter and 2014 Main (formerly Regular) Season sign-ups. For the first time in our CSA history we will offer a limited number of Choice Shares as part of our 2014 Main Season; shares in which you can choose from a default list of items what you want to have included in your weekly share. We are very excited about the idea of giving our members more choice in share content as our CSA program keeps evolving. However, at this point we are not ready to launch such a program for the entire membership, and we'd like the 2014 Main Season to be a trial so we don't get too deep in over our heads as we work out all the details for offering Choice Shares on a larger scale. So, currently subscribed members, keep an eye out for an email explaining all the details on how to sign up for the upcoming Winter and Main seasons, since you will have priority to sign up first. We will then make a general announcement in our newsletter.

Community Farm DayDry-farmed Tomato U-Harvests Continue
The tomatoes are still gorgeous and we've decided to leave the u-harvest field open every Saturday from 10:00AM - 3:00PM until rain wipes them out. So, if you want to come to the farm and pick a load of some fantastic dry-farmed tomatoes you still have a chance. It's self-service, pick-and-pay. Instructions will be posted at our Green Valley Barn Farm Stand. Once it starts raining in earnest, we will close the u-harvesting.
