First Responder Grants - 704.540.0981 - Your Key to Funding

Now through Dec. 6, 2013

The objective of the FY2013 AFG Program is to award grants directly to fire departments, nonaffiliated EMS organizations, and state fire training academies for critically needed resources to protect the public, to train emergency personnel, and to foster interoperability and support community resilience.

Tips for Your Application

Expertise & Experience:
Contact Kurt Bradley today for help with your application
  • Micro-Grants. When submitting an Ops & Safety grant, keep your request to under $25K in Federal share, then check the box that says "Micro-Grant". You may receive higher consideration and have a better chance at being funded. This is especially true for smaller, rural agencies.
  • Know Your Priorities. Never mix "low-priority" or "medium-priority" items with "high-priority" items. It lowers your overall average grant score.
  • Radio Equipment Requirements. All radio equipment purchased with AFG funds must be P-25 SAFECOM compliant and cannot be in the 700MhZ spectrum. Your communication project must be in synch with your State's Homeland Security Office's State Communications Interoperability Plan (SCIP). It will have to have their stamp of approval prior to an award being made. Contact the director in charge of the State's communications plan, get tacit approval and alert him/her that you are applying. Make them aware they are likely to see your application cross their desk. That way your project is not a surprise to them, and this can speed up the approval process.
  • Ambulance Grant Funds. Of the total fire grant money allocated for vehicles, 2013 AFG specifically sets aside 10% for ambulances.

Clients Say...

"I am honored to have been mentored by Kurt Bradley. He has inspired me to initiate the grant process for our fire department. Looks like another successful grant for us, to the tune of $7.6M for staffing. Thank you again, Kurt."

"Kurt was very helpful in writing a successful equipment grant for the fire company. He took the time to get to know all the aspects of the fire company so he could help us as much as possible. In 2012, we were awarded nearly $90,000 for some much-needed equipment from the 2011 Assistance to Firefighters Grant."

"I have no one to thank but YOU! You are the one that gave me the guidance and what was needed to be so successful in being awarded an Assistance to Firefighters Grant. Both myself and my department greatly appreciate all your help which enabled us to update and expand our department's equipment and services."
