Officers and Board of Advisors
Deadline for Nominations is August 23, 2013

It's hard to believe that the 50th Anniversary Reunion has already come and gone. It was a fantastic experience, and we had an outstanding level of participation. Several attendees expressed a renewed interest in assisting the NYSCAA in its mission. We are now announcing an opportunity to do just that, by serving as an NYSCAA officer. We invite you to submit nominations (for yourself or others) for NYSCAA officer positions using the Officer Nomination Form.

The following positions are open for 2013 - 2014:
  • President-Elect (3 year term; one year as President-Elect, one year as President, one year as Past-President)
  • Treasurer (1 year term)
  • Secretary (1 year term)
  • Member of the Board of Advisors (2 spots available; 3 year term)

You can find out what each position entails by reading the Executive Officer DutiesMost positions are self explanatory, and the time requirements are modest, although not minimal.

The process is simple: nominate, write a short candidate bio (find examples at nyscaa.org, go to News and choose any of the elections from the list), vote. There are no speeches to give, no PACS with smear ads, and no campaign finance reporting. Just remember that only dues paying members can serve as officers, so get those dues payments in with your nomination if you haven't already paid.

Some of the projects that you can work on as an officer include reunion planning, the relationship between the NYSF and NYSC, alumni outreach, social networking, and any other issues YOU want to bring before the board. This is your chance to make the NYSCAA what you want it to be.

We encourage anyone who might be interested to contact current NYSCAA officers with any questions. Send an E-mail to officers@nyscaa.org and someone will get in touch with you. Once nominations close, the ballot will be prepared and voting will commence.

Thanks, and we hope to hear from many eager candidates!

NYSC Alumni Reflections

At the Farewell Banquet marking the conclusion of the 2013 NYSC, delegates had the opportunity to reflect on their NYSC experiences. In celebration of the NYSC 50th Anniversary, we are asking alumni to again reflect on their personal NYSC experience and share their thoughts with others.

Instructions:
  1. Go to http://youtu.be/RXTZ1Gofuaw.
  2. Click Create a video response.
  3. If you have already uploaded your video reflection to YouTube, then simply select your video from the list.
  4. Otherwise, click Upload a Video and then click Start.
  5. From there, either upload your video reflection or follow the instructions and capture it using your webcam.

URGENT NEED: Think back to the last day of your National Youth Science Camp experience and the value that you placed on the program. Unfortunately, individual contributions are well below expectations; fewer than 10% of NYSC alumni have made a contribution during our 50th Anniversary Year.

Students in all National Youth Science Foundation sponsored programs participate free of charge thanks to financial and in-kind support from corporations, foundations, and individuals.
