It's hard to believe that the
50th Anniversary Reunion has already come and gone. It was a fantastic experience, and we had an outstanding level of participation. Several attendees expressed a renewed interest in assisting the NYSCAA in its mission. We are now announcing an opportunity to do just that, by serving as an NYSCAA officer. We invite you to submit nominations (for yourself or others) for NYSCAA officer positions using the
Officer Nomination Form.
The following positions are open for 2013 - 2014:
- President-Elect (3 year term; one year as President-Elect, one year as President, one year as Past-President)
- Treasurer (1 year term)
- Secretary (1 year term)
- Member of the Board of Advisors (2 spots available; 3 year term)
You can find out what each position entails by reading the Executive Officer Duties. Most positions are self explanatory, and the time requirements are modest, although not minimal.
The process is simple: nominate, write a short candidate bio (find examples at
nyscaa.org, go to News and choose any of the elections from the list), vote. There are no speeches to give, no PACS with smear ads, and no campaign finance reporting. Just remember that only dues paying members can serve as officers, so get those dues payments in with your nomination if you haven't already paid.
Some of the projects that you can work on as an officer include reunion planning, the relationship between the NYSF and NYSC, alumni outreach, social networking, and any other issues YOU want to bring before the board. This is your chance to make the NYSCAA what you want it to be.
We encourage anyone who might be interested to contact current NYSCAA officers with any questions. Send an E-mail to
officers@nyscaa.org and someone will get in touch with you. Once nominations close, the ballot will be prepared and voting will commence.
Thanks, and we hope to hear from many eager candidates!
