which would extend funding authorization for the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area program through 2022 at an event at Boscobel on June 7th. She was joined by Representatives Lowey and Maloney who announced their co-sponsorship of the companion bill in the House. The event also featured announcements related to an NPS Study bill to see if the Hudson Valley should be designated as a unit of the National Park Service and the continuation of the Highlands Conservation Act.

Scott Keller Receives Public Leadership Award
The Greenway's Scott Keller was recognized by Parks and Trails NY (PTNY) with a 2013 Public Leadership Award for his work in the creation and growth of the Hudson River Greenway Water Trail. This award recognizes Scott's tireless advocacy and work to create the Water Trail and to shepherd its growth throughout the years. The awards recognize the leadership, creativity, and donation of time, talent, and materials behind many of New York's parks and trails. Congratulations, Scott, on this well deserved recognition for many years of work!

Help Historic Cherry Hill
A few years ago, Historic Cherry Hill won a prestigious "We the People" challenge grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), one of only seven awards nationwide. The $575,000 grant must be matched 3:1. You can help make a difference for this incredible historic site, by helping Cherry Hill meet its fundraising goal by July 31st. Cherry Hill has done an extraordinary job raising the required matching funds, but they need help reaching the upcoming benchmark. Meeting the benchmark would result in the release of matching federal funds, allow continued progress on the sorely needed stabilization and restoration of this nationally significant 1787 historic structure, and ensure their ability to fulfill their education, research and preservation mission. Scenic Hudson Launches Interactive Hudson River Map
Scenic Hudson's "adaptation tool box" offers an interactive map for visualizing where future high tides and flood zones could reach. The website also features links to resources for shoreline adaptation and scientific data. The 150 miles of Hudson River between New York Harbor and Troy is an estuary in sync with the ocean's tides. If severe weather events like Superstorm Sandy become more common and ocean levels rise, land along that tidal stretch of river will be vulnerable, too. Read more...

Amtrak has now begun allowing walk on bike service for some trains, however,
 bikes are not permitted along the New York State Amtrak corridors. Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce has posted a petition to Amtrak allow better access to the many bikable communities in NYS as well as summer time attractions across the border. Read more... Tower of Victory Restoration For 125 years, the Tower of Victory has stood as the nation's only monument to the lasting peace that came after the end of the Revolutionary War. It was commissioned by the son of the President Robert Todd Lincoln, who was also Secretary of War. It stands on the property where General Washington created the "Badge of Military Merit," what is now called the Purple Heart medal. Unfortunately, the Tower is currently in disrepair, and in need of restoration to the stone structure, and a new roof. A campaign to save the Tower of Victory is underway, and you can Donate through the Palisades Parks Conservancy. Hudson River Days 2013! Hudson River Day was so successful that in 2013, we're expanding the celebration from a single day to an entire weekend. This year, July 20th and 21st will feature a wide range of activities on and around the Hudson River. Activities will include the 2nd Annual Great Hudson River Fish Count, as well as festivals, swims, kayak outings, sails and more! What will your organization plan for Hudson River Days 2013? Historic Cherry Hill
 Historic Cherry Hill is a nationally recognized historic site with a long history of accomplishments, including accreditation by the American Alliance of Museums, accolades for innovative interpretation, and preservation awards. A few years ago, the museum won a prestigious "We the People challenge" grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), one of only seven awards nationwide. The $575,000 grant must be matched 3:1, and launched the $2.3 million Telling a Bigger Story campaign.You can help make a difference for this incredible historic site. Cherry Hill is $170,000 short of their goal. Meeting the benchmark would result in the release of 1:1 matching federal funds, allow continued progress on the sorely needed stabilization and restoration of this nationally significant 1787 historic structure, and ensure our ability to continue fulfilling their education, research and preservation mission.
Cherry Hill was home to Catherine Putman Rankin and her family from 1
884 through 1963. Within its walls, Catherine created a refined way of life that glorified her
Van Rensselaer family heritage. Lived in by five generations of the prominent Van Rensselaer family, the site includes a 1787 wood-frame structure listed on the National Register of Historic Places and an intact collection of 20,000 objects, 30,000 manuscripts, 7,500 textiles, 5,000 books and 3,000 photographs.

Grand Opening of the Riverwalk Sensory Trail
On June 15, Hudson Crossing Park celebrated two Park amenities
that improve accessibility and enjoyment for visitors. The Riverwalk Sensory Trail provides a multi-sensory, immersive riparian path for Park visitors to follow. Special features are included to enhance the experience for those with mobility and visual impairments, making it a unique trail for the greater Hudson Valley community.
Constructed in part with a grant from the Hudson River Valley Greenway, the Riverwalk Sensory Trail is a 1540' stone dust path south from the Dix bridge along the shore of the Hudson River which offers those who are physically challenged an opportunity to experience nature in a way that is seldom available to them.
