Christmas In September!

Little Children Of The Philippines - Annual Christmas Gift Drive for 2013

LCP Preschool child What if your mom only received one face cloth and bar of soap for Christmas? What if your only Christmas present this year is one tube of lip gloss or a baseball cap? It is that time of the year when we prepare the Christmas shipment to the Little Children of the Philippines (LCP). The goal each year is to make sure that each person in the LCP community receives ONE Christmas gift. There are 5,000 people in the Little Children of the Philippines program. This year's requested items are listed below. (Download a printable PDF flyer and donation form here.) Thank you SO much for being such a blessing in these people's lives!

For all members of the LCP community:

  • Little boys and girls: Small toys, e.g., matchbox cars, small dolls
  • School-age boys: White t-shirts that they can wear to school
  • School-age girls: Dresses (gently-used are perfect)
  • Teen-age boys: T-shirts of any color
  • Teen-age girls: Skirts
  • Men: Baseball caps
  • Women: Wash cloth or hand towel with a bar of soap
  • Everyone: Urgent need for toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, vitamins (child and adult), gently-used clothes, hygiene products...especially those from hotels (soaps, shampoos, lotion)
  • For the preschool children (age 4): Wooden blocks, small toys, e.g., cars, dolls, stuffed animals, books. Also, crayons, construction paper, scissors, markers, pens, pencils, glue sticks, stickers, anything teachers could use in the preschools. Or, lollipops put in a plastic or metal container

Oral Health Needs

Oral health is a major problem in the Philippines. Sixty-four percent of the LCP families have dental problems. These problems are related to diet, hygiene, and lack of items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, and dental floss. These items are too expensive for most LCP families to buy. Tooth decay and other associated problems are painful and expensive to treat. PCIS members are encouraged to include toothbrushes and tubes of toothpaste with this year's Christmas gift donations.  Perhaps your own dentist could provide some of these supplies.

Important instructions for donating are detailed here.

The deadline for leaving gifts in the Fellowship Hall is...

Sunday, September 15.
