Greetings!

Greetings and blessings! We at the CPLC are celebrating great news this past week -- the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals Order allowing the omnibus pro-life law that passed in the last legislative session to go into effect!  This law prohibits abortions after 20 weeks, increases the regulations surrounding RU 486 chemical abortions, requires abortionists to have hospital admitting privileges within 30 miles of their facilities, and by next Fall, all abortion facilities must meet the standards of ambulatory surgical centers. Our Convert-to-Life/Sidewalk Counseling Ministry is busy monitoring each of the five abortion centers in Dallas for their compliance with this law. Initial reports indicate that one Dallas abortion center that ceased performing abortions as of Friday will be closing, and a second has suspended performing abortions at this time. The number of available days for abortions in Dallas may markedly decrease due to the unavailability of abortionists who are in compliance with the new requirements. We will continue to stay on top of this important victory of life, and keep you up to date as well. Please join us in prayer that this law is fully implemented as it continues to be challenged up to the U.S. Supreme Court!

This month we are also celebrating adoption -- the loving alternative for mothers who are not prepared to parent but instead offer the incredible gift of life to another family. The CPLC encourages the option of adoption through GEMS, an outreach ministry of Project Gabriel. In just a couple of weeks, we will recognize six graduates from the GEMS program at our Christ Child Luncheon on November 16 at the Doubletree Hotel in Richardson. If you haven't yet reserved your ticket, be sure to visit prolifedallas.org/luncheon to do so now. Along with the luncheon, the CPLC hosts a Christmas Gift Market which is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please spread the word about this festive event, proceeds of which benefit the CPLC as well as the White Rose Women's Center and Birth Choice. (Flyer available here.)

Also this month, we are bringing another successful 40 Days for Life-Dallas campaign to a close. Thanks to all of your efforts, we once again covered the Southwestern late-term abortion center 24/7 for 40 days! We hope you and your fellow parishioners will join us for the potluck Victory Celebration on Sunday, November 10, in Sweeney Hall at St. Rita, Dallas from 2 to 4 p.m. The program will feature the incredible testimony of former Planned Parenthood nurse practitioner Angie Andino.

Also this weekend is our next quarterly Parish Pro-Life Coordinators Meeting on Saturday, November 9, at Blessed Sacrament, Dallas, where they will have a wonderful breakfast for us beginning at 8 a.m. We will be welcoming special guest speakers from the Texas Catholic Conference, and we will be presenting important information about the 2014 Roe Memorial Events with Bishop Farrell at the new location: the Dallas Convention Center! If you cannot be there, please send a representative on your behalf.

Finally, I'd like to share a few thoughts with you about Pope Francis' recent announcement that Blessed John Paul II and his predecessor Blessed John XXIII will be canonized on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 27, 2014. Throughout their lives, John Paul II and John XXIII lived the lives of heroic sanctity. Catholic saints are ordinary human people who lived extraordinary lives. Each saint the Church honors responded to God's invitation to offer his or her unique gifts for God's glory and the benefit of others. God calls each one of us to be saints. Pope Francis emphasizes God's mercy and readiness to forgive. We should also be ready to forgive others. We all make mistakes, but God overlooks them and sees us as His beloved creatures. We often see things done that are not according to God's will, but it is then that we should most show forth God's love. Your devotion to respect life ministry is a wonderful way to demonstrate God's love to family, friends and neighbors! God bless you!

Thanks for all you do for Life,

David
