Gadgetry Duo

Wool Novelty Weave Suiting
Late summer is a great time to make your first fall tailored jacket. This spice inspired coloration is a perfect transition to the coming season. Maroon yarns woven with bronzed camel in a novelty zig-zag pattern is appealing for three season wear as a light outerwear jacket or a blazer to team with pants or skirts. 100% wool.
Night Vision
Poly Spandex Jersey

Neutrals are key to a great transitional wardrobe. This dark navy ITY jersey knit is printed with a textural pattern in shades of tan broken up by wide-eyed circular shapes outlined in white. The print is subtle, the colorations sophisticated and the comfort level is perfect for 3 season wear.

Hazelnut
Silk Cotton

Silk and Cotton...yummmm! We thought this richly colored lightweight fabrication was a great choice for the transitions wardrobe. Dressier than a plain cotton, the silk offers a bit of sheen without moving out of the daywear category. Great for draped pants, skirts, dresses or tops. The coffee latte tone will set off textures and prints with ease.
Maille
Viscose Jersey
from France

Neutral colors of taupe, charcoal and antique white form chain links grouped randomly on a black ground. The irregularity of the print is its appeal...the chain is broken periodically and shading varies to avoid the look of a stripe. Printed on Viscose/Elastane jersey knit and imported from France.

Rayon Jersey
Betsey Johnson

This expressive printed knit from Betsey Johnson will inspire as you create a top or dress. The putty ground is a backdrop to full-on coral orange and deep bog splotches that are surrounded by suggestions of dark walnut paw prints. Accents of golden tan complete the design which makes us think of an animal preserve. Rayon/spandex.

2013 ASG Conference  Arlington VA

In July, Judy attended the 2013 ASG conference held in Crystal City, Arlington VA, just outside of our nations capitol.

The ASG (American Sewing Guild) consists of over 300 chapters nationwide. Each year there is a national conference  held in a US city. The week long conference consists of  daily classes with nationally known instructors, marketplace vendors, and organized tours of the area. At this years conference, Judy spotted several members wearing SB fabrics.

Below is Wendy, hailing from Chicago, sporting a top made from Fab 50's in aqua.
Wendy from Chicago
Wendy and Judy first met at the 2009 ASG conference in Chicago.

Next we have Helen from Seattle. She is modeling a gorgeous jacket made from Margaret, a cotton print jacquard, which we currently have in stock. She used a gray twisted cord for the accent piping. Helen coordinated her jacket with a shell made from Platinum Knit, a viscose spandex fabric that was a Rem Room gem.

Lastly, we have Donna who came to the conference from Minneapolis. She created her top from the SB knit Blue Jungle. What a fun top!

New Sew Along!

Maryjo

 Coming Soon!
One-Two-Three Season Jacket

Mary Jo will begin a new sew along in a few weeks. She plans to use Hot Patterns #1031, Boulevard Riviera Cardigan Jacket for a three-season jacket.

Now is the time to choose your pattern and fabric. There will be plenty of variations with lots of learning opportunities if everyone joins in. We will open the Sew Along next week, but the actual project will not begin until late August or early September. Start your planning now to be ready for the fun.
