Welcome to the latest edition of our "moving ahead" newsletter!

As I write this welcome, I can't get the song, It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year out of my head. No, I'm not necessarily one of those folks who already have my Christmas countdown calendar up: Rather, it's Campaign Season at River Cities United Way, and that is something to be excited about!

Each of the three areas RCUW serves are gearing up for a terrific campaign season- Kingman leads the pack, having held their official kickoff two weeks ago at Mohave State Bank.  Not far behind, Lake Havasu City will be holding their kickoff this Friday, and Bullhead City/Laughlin completes the circuit with their unofficial campaign season kickoff at their annual Sandblast Volleyball Tournament, followed by the official kickoff event a few weeks later at US Bank. Regardless of where you are however, campaign activities are in full swing in each area, and we'd love for you or your business to be a part of the good things taking place through RCUW!

Take some time to look through this newsletter, and then take the next step by getting involved.  If nothing else, take a moment to read about our upcoming Radio-Thon.  There are so many community programs that need your support, and there never seems to be enough resources to go around: Use this opportunity to give a little extra, have a little fun, and make be the difference in our communities!

Bank of America Contribution

A $5,000 generous donation has been awarded by Bank of America. These funds were allocated towards our Corporate Cornerstone - which covers United Way's administrative and fundraising overhead.

Bullhead Impact Story

At our August RCUW Board Meeting we heard a story of a client served by WestCare's Safe house, one of our partner agencies and programs in the Bullhead City area. After leaving a bad situation, this mother and her infant had no where to turn, no where to go. That's where Safe House came in, providing her not only a place to stay, but a home and a family to call her own as she worked through a rough time in her life. As the dust began to settle and because of the services and assistance she was provided through the WestCare program, both mother and daughter were able to move into their own apartment, and has begun to bring some normalcy back to their lives. This in itself is a great story, but if you could see the confidence and pride in the mother as she told her story- that put the "amazing" in her story!

The exciting part to this story is that as a contributor to River Cities United Way, you share a part in that story and every other one of the thousands of stories that are shared by people from our communities who are served by our partner agencies! Whether it be through giving, advocating, or volunteering, you become part of something bigger than any of us can be individually.

Kingman Kickoff (recap)
We are thankful for all of our generous sponsors and partner agencies who joined us Thursday, Sept. 5th for our kick-off in Kingman.

We would like to once again recognize these businesses.

The workplace campaign is the easiest and most powerful way to invest in our communities. You can direct your contribution to one of the action areas-Education, Income and Health-or choose all three. As always, we will also process a restricted contribution to qualified 501 (c) 3 organizations.
