Greetings!

Are you undecided about whether to book a reservation at a salon or hire a professional to come onsite, directly to you? At Stevenson Ridge, use of a bridal dressing room is included within the ceremony fee. At the Lodge, the room is located in the basement and at the Riddick House, in the master bedroom.  Here are the advantages of both... Onsite Hair/Makeup: 1) Convenience-you are already on-location and the worry about traffic or getting lost is gone. You can go one step further and rent a cottage the night before, allowing more time to prepare and relax. 2) Privacy- no strangers sitting next to you as you get beautified or a crowded salon on your wedding day. 3) Repairs- pay a little extra and keep your stylist around until after your ceremony, so they can touch up your hair and makeup.  Offsite Hair/Makeup:  1) Timeliness- you and your bridesmaids typically finish quicker since more hands will be assisting with hair and makeup. 2) Less Expensive- stylists don't have to travel and pack up all their belongings, so fees will be less.  3) Styling Flexibility- stylists will have more equipment, tools and accessories at their disposable if you visit a salon.  Last minute styling changes can prove to be more difficult if you the professional comes to you. Whichever direction you go, don't opt out of a trial session... you don't want any surprises on your wedding day!!

Sincerely,

The Staff at Stevenson Ridge

News at Stevenson Ridge
If you have been to Stevenson Ridge lately, you will see the newest additions to our outdoor decor. Innkeeper, Dan Spear, has spent many hours restoring two antique wagons.  These charming pieces of history are perfect for photos and ceremony backdrops.

The most popular day to get married in this summer was.. June 1st! The Knot stated over 24,000 brides got married on this Saturday with their guest size averaging 140 people. Which means 3,360,000 people attended a wedding that day! Saturdays typically are very popular for weddings but this was a significantly large amount. We were lucky to host the Combiths/Hedricks Wedding. Which was a great weekend of family fun at Stevenson Ridge!

Featured Wedding: Etiquette with Children
One of the most difficult decisions a bride may have to make is whether or not to include children at the reception.  Offending friends and family is the last thing most of us want. What is the proper etiquette of how to include or exclude children at your wedding?
1) Decide early. Making this decision in advance will help the planning (i.e- invitations and word-of-mouth).
1) Address the invitation explicitly. Children over 18 should receive their own invitations.
2) Call all guests with children. This will help your guests prepare sitter arrangements for your wedding day. More commonly now, brides are providing a babysitter service separate from the reception location for guests with children.
3) Inviting some children and not others. Having an age limit, such as 14 and up, allows some children to attend.
