"Two Brothers, Both Lost"
|
Dr. McIvor's sermon is "Two Brothers, Both Lost" based on Luke 15.11-32. Because we tend to read the Bible moralistically ("you're bad") rather than theologically ("God is good"), this parable appears to focus on the younger son, that is, the prodigal who is forgiven by his father. (But ain't it awful what that bad boy did - all that sinful living!) This way of reading the story, however, misses how the forgiving father also forgives the elder son. (What a good boy he was.) In other words, the parable is about the father who forgives two lost sons. Do we get that?
