October  2014

Thank you for your support!

Our heartfelt thanks to all of the wonderful participants, volunteers and donors for making the 2014 walk season a memorable one. Through your outstanding efforts, we are pleased to report that $700,000 was raised to support research, programs and services that will benefit families touched by kidney disease.

The Kidney Walks continue to be a great place to connect and join together as a Kidney Community - and this year we had a lot to celebrate - 50 years of The Kidney Foundation of Canada. From birthday cake to balloons, breakfast and BBQs we had a great time celebrating with you and your family.

Congratulations to our Kidney Walk Champions, those who raised over $1000. Click here to see the list of outstanding fundraisers.

Kidney Connect: Empowering kidney patients through peer support

Connecting with someone who has a shared experience can be one of the best ways to reduce stress, gather information and validate one's feelings. Sometimes hearing from a peer that they managed the lifestyle changes often required after diagnosis or a change in treatment modality can be just the reassuring voice needed during a stressful time.

Ontario Volunteers Receive National Recognition

On September 18th 2014, Don Cherry, Terry Leon, Jason Kroft, Dr. William Clark, Jaya Katwaroo and the Osborne Family were invited to The Kidney Foundation of Canada 50th Anniversary Breakfast to receive National Awards in recognition of their outstanding commitment to The Kidney Foundation and its mission of reducing the burden of kidney disease.

Rush guitarist, Alex Lifeson will also receive an award for his outstanding support early in November at The Kidney Foundation's Golden Gala.
