Dear Knots of Love, 

Crafting for a good cause like KOL is my passion.  Plus I have a special reason for doing hats.  My dear daughter went to Heaven at the age 24 .... her battle was with Hodgkins Non-Lymphoma.  One day as her hair was in the mid stage of falling out, a very insensitive person made a not-so-nice comment about her 'skimpy' hair.  She responded with the greatest calm and grace, 'it's the style for cancer patients going through chemo'.  The person immediately apologized.  But the words were forever in the air.  From that day forward she wore a hat!!

 

Each hat is made in honor of my graceful and brave daughter.  I usually send you brimmed hats with a flower because those were her favorites.  There was a short video on KOL's Facebook with a nurse from Hoag holding one of my hats!!!  I was tickled silly to see that.  Thanks.  I will do brimmed hats again for spring and summer.

With thousands of thanks to the management and staff of Roadrunner Sports, our loyal volunteers, the generous donors of drinks and snacks, runners and walkers, faithful family, friends and, supporters, our inaugural Knots of Love 5K peeps and pups (plus one pig) run/walk was a tremendous success. 

 

The top three money-gathering teams received gift certificates for product in the store, participants received a hand-made cap key ring and goodie bag, water and snacks were readily available for peeps and their pups. The wind tried to blow us down, but we persevered. 

 

The day was marred by a trip and fall of one of our walkers. She is resting at home and looking forward to next year's 5K with us.  We'll keep you informed of the details for next year. 

 

Again, on behalf go the Executive Board members , cap-makers, and recipients, I thank you for assisting us in warming hearts and heads - one cap or blanket at a time.

     Thumbs Up From Theresa!

 

Theresa tripped on some uneven pavement while walking in the 5K. We are thrilled to report she will not need surgery on her fractured knee.
