Storm and Noise Phobias
in Dogs
Summer thunderstorms and holiday fire-crackers can cause anxiety and panic attacks that bother many dogs. The anxiety may range from by just hiding, elevating to shaking and pacing, and occasionally behavior that can cause injury to the pet.
It is usually best not to stroke or talk to the dog, as this may reinforce the reason to be anxious. Move your dog away from windows and into a quiet area of your house. Turn on a TV or radio. Do not scold or punish your dog for this behavior.
adptil2
We carry a product that can help relieve stress in dogs. Adaptil is a synthetic dog appeasing pheromone that comes in a spray, diffuser and collar. It helps to reduce stress and calm dogs. Some dogs require presciption medications based on the dogs anxiety level. Click on the Adaptil box to find out more.

Taking Fido to a backyard barbecue or party? Remember that the food and drink offered to guests may be poisonous to pets. Keep alcoholic beverages away from pets, as they can cause intoxication, depression and comas. Similarly, remember that the snacks enjoyed by your human friends should not be a treat for your pet. Any change of diet, even for one meal, may give your dog or cat severe digestive ailments. Avoid raisins, grapes, onions, chocolate and products with the sweetener xylitol.

Summer Pet Safety
 dogs in car
Sadly every summer we see pets injured when they ride in cars with windows down. They are either  thrown out of the car or objects hit them in the face or eyes.
