Westland Hires Two New Patrolmen, Promotes Veteran Officer
 
Westland, MI
The City of Westland is hiring two new police officers to patrol city streets and one veteran officer will be promoted to sergeant.  Officers,  Chaim Kozak and  John Mamrot will be sworn in Monday, September 16th at 4:00pm, and Officer Paul White will be promoted. 

 

Chaim Kozak is a lifelong resident of Westland and graduated from the Michigan Technical Academy.  Officer Kozak was a Westland Police Explorer for two years 

 prior to his enlistment into the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17.

 

During his enlistment in the Marine Corps he did one tour in Afghanistan and one tour in Iraq.  In 2006, while deployed in Iraq, a truck he was in drove over a roadside bomb. Officer Kozak was hospitalized with severe injuries.  He was put through a year of intense rehabilitation. Officer Kozak earned the Purple Heart for his injuries and was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 2007.  

 

Officer Kozak is a graduate of Schoolcraft College with an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice.  He has worked as a police officer in Boyd, Kentucky and in Sumpter Township, Michigan prior to be hired by Westland Police Department.

 

 

Officer John Mamrot grew up in Fraser, Michigan and graduated from Fraser High School.  He Obtained his associates degree from Macomb Community College. Officer Mamrot also attended the Macomb Police Academy.  Shortly after graduating the Academy, he was hired by the Hamtramck Police Department, where he has worked for the past three years as a Field Training Officer assigned to the Patrol Division. Son of Fraser Police Officer, Donald Mamrot, John is following in his father's footsteps.

 

Officer Paul White was with the Detroit Police Department for five years before joining the Westland force. Officer White has proudly served Westland for the past 15 years and is a member of the Department's SWAT team, and Honor Guard. He is also a Department sniper and a Field Training Officer. Today Officer White will be promoted to Sergeant.
