Citizens Memorial Hospital (CMH) will host a free Lunch and Learn seminar on diabetic eye disease and macular degeneration Friday, April 12 from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the CMH Community Rooms located at 1500 N. Oakland in Bolivar. Information will be presented by Chetan Soni, M.D., M.S., MHA. Dr. Soni will discuss symptoms that can indicate vision impairment, diagnosis and treatment.
Dr. Soni is a graduate of the Medical College of Baroda, India, where he was chief resident of the department of ophthalmology. He completed a residency in neurology at the University of Missouri-Columbia and a residency in ophthalmology at Mason Eye Institute with the University of Missouri-Columbia. He was also a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the Govind Clinic of Raopura, in Baroda, India. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), the Missouri Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons (MoSEPS), and the All India Ophthalmology Society (AIOS).
Dr. Soni is the winner of the 2010 American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Ophthalmic Research Grant. This prestigious grant was awarded to 10 individuals worldwide to provide seed funding for innovative research in ophthalmology. He is in practice at the CMH Eye Specialty Center, 1155 W. Parkview, Suite 1B, in Bolivar.
