Your Virginia Legislature is off to a strong start for this short session, and has begun the process of sifting through over 1,000 pieces of legislation up for consideration.
I believe the most important distinction of our legislative body is that we are a
citizen-legislature. After serving in Richmond, we all return to our home-districts and live under the very laws we pass. I think this is what sets us apart from other states with full-time legislatures.
Honored Guests I am always happy to receive visitors from the 82nd District at my General Assembly office.
Thanks to the Virginia Beach Hotel Association, the ladies of the Beach Suburban Republican Women's Club, and Dr. Morgan and fellow dentists from Virginia Beach, for helping make this a great first week.
If you happen to be in Richmond over the course of this session and have an idea, a concern, or would just like to visit the state capitol, we welcome you to stop
by.
We can arrange a tour of the capitol for you or provide tickets to the gallery to see your state legislature at work.
Patron & Co-Patron Each year, Senators and Delegates propose legislation for consideration during the current session and I am currently the
Chief Patron of 11 pieces of legislation as well as a
Chief Co-Patron of two bills in the house.
These bills cover a wide-range of issues such as app-based transportation companies, sale of tobacco products to minors and genetic food labeling.
I invite you to read these pieces of legislation and share your thoughts with my office by calling (804) 698-1082 or
e-mailing my office at any time.
State of the State AddressThis week, Governor McAuliffe gave his State of the State address before the full legislature. If you haven't seen the Republican response, given by our own Senator Jeff McWaters and Delegate Margaret Ransone, please take a few moments to view it now:

Take the District SurveyEach year, we conduct a survey of our constituents to find out what is important to you during this legislative session. If you haven't done so, please help guide your state lawmakers to the right decisions this year and
click here to take the survey. You can also contact me during session at
[email protected] or by calling 804.698.1082. We want to hear what you have to say.
I will be at my office in the General Assembly Building through February 28, and welcome your calls or emails-but especially your visits. Please feel free to come by and say hello!
I am honored to be the representative from the 82nd District.
